Stain Gallery

ux

Project Overview

I worked on a website tool for a medical equipment manufacturer and seller, which allows researchers to view a gallery of tissue stains and exposes them to purchasing slides or equipment used to create those slides. Our goal was to create a user-friendly and visually appealing tool that enables researchers to easily find and purchase the equipment they need to conduct their experiments.

Background

The client wanted to create a tool that would make it easier for researchers to find the specific tissue stains and equipment they need to conduct their experiments. By creating a gallery of tissue stains with purchasing options readily available, we could provide researchers with a one-stop shop for all of their lab equipment needs and replicate the stains showcased.

Research

User interviews with 12 medical and life science professionals proved to show that researchers often make their purchasing decisions based on the quality of the stain produced. In order to curate their experience when shopping for lab equipment, it was shown that a “gallery” like tool would be beneficial in assisting these users in their search for their needed equipment.

Content Layout Mockup

As well, a mockup was created to act a guide for where the slide viewer gallery should sit in the new content design being worked into development. This will sit on the homepage of the Life Sciences Portal.
