Designing for Heidrick Navigator
Designing for Heidrick Navigator
Contributing to the evolution of a complex enterprise platform for leadership assessment, talent planning, and organizational decision-making.
As a UX Designer & Researcher, I contributed to Heidrick Navigator across multiple initiatives, helping translate complex organizational data, workflows, and business requirements into intuitive enterprise experiences.
My work spanned UX research, information architecture, workflow design, product design, and cross-functional collaboration across an evolving enterprise platform.
Due to the proprietary nature of the platform and loss of access following my departure, visuals on this page are simplified representations of my work rather than original product screens
02 / UNDERSTANDING THE PRODUCT
Understanding the Product
Heidrick Navigator is an enterprise platform designed to help organizations better understand their leadership landscape and support complex talent and succession decisions.
The platform brings together organizational structures, leadership and assessment data, talent insights, and interconnected workflows—creating a powerful but inherently complex ecosystem for users to navigate.
My work across Navigator focused on making that complexity easier to understand and interact with, translating dense organizational information and business requirements into clearer workflows and experiences.
THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
Make complex organizational systems and data feel understandable, connected, and actionable.
02 / MY WORK ACROSS NAVIGATOR
My Work Across Navigator
My primary responsibility on Navigator was defining how complex product requirements translated into understandable workflows and experiences.
I led information architecture and UX across multiple initiatives, working with product and engineering to understand requirements, map complex workflows, define user flows, and establish the structure and behavior of the experience.
From there, I directed the UX-to-UI handoff with our external design agency, providing the requirements and UX direction needed to develop the interface. I reviewed their work, provided feedback, and approved designs to ensure the final UI accurately reflected the intended workflows, requirements, and user experience.
MY ROLE
Own the experience from product complexity → UX architecture → UI direction.
03 / DESIGNING FOR ENTERPRISE COMPLEXITY
Designing for Enterprise Complexity
Navigator brought together organizational structures, leadership data, assessments, integrations, and business rules into a single enterprise product.
My role was often to understand how those systems and requirements related to one another before defining how the experience should work. That meant balancing user needs with technical limitations, data dependencies, and evolving product requirements.
I used information architecture, workflow mapping, and close collaboration with product and engineering to turn that complexity into clearer, more usable product experiences.
DESIGN APPROACH
Understand the system → structure the experience → simplify what the user sees.
04 / MY CONTRIBUTION
My Contribution
My work across Navigator extended beyond individual screens or features. I was responsible for understanding complex product requirements, defining how experiences should work, and creating the information architecture and workflows that connected them.
I served as a bridge between product, engineering, stakeholders, and our external UI agency—translating requirements into UX direction and ensuring the final designs remained aligned with the intended experience.
Working across Navigator strengthened my ability to operate at the system level: understanding complexity, creating structure, and guiding that structure from product requirements through final UI.
THE TAKEAWAY
Designing the interface was only one part of the challenge. My role was defining the experience behind it.
